History

              According to the rapid growth of National development both in Economic and society since 1987, effects of various aspects of causing different problems to people and Community, many kinds of conflict then, there would be growing serious Conflict from personal conflict to many people’s and public policy in some cases, those kinds of conflict led to violence in solving problems and tended to be more According to the above causes, The approach for establishing Institute For Dispute Resolution was inspired by Prof. Doctor Prawes Wasee, the University council committee, expert, that Khon Kaen University should establish organizations for searching guideline and transferring knowledge for solving problem peacefully to prevent overflowing with blood and dissolving of Thai society while being supported various useful viewpoints and information from many expert persons such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaiwat Sataanan, Mr. Paibool Wattanasirstam, and the Monk Paisal Visalo by initiation and introduction by Prof. Doctor Vanchai Vattanasapt, former rector of Khon Kaen University by Khon Kaen University Council agreed to establish Institute for Dispute Resolution on 6th April 1995 with following objectives:
1. To study, search; conduct Research of the guideline for solving conflict especially Conflict from using resource and public policy
2. To be resource for problem solving both of Thailand and Foreign Countries
3. To provide academic service Both as instructional management of Related courses and advise various Organizations According to the above Objectives of institute establishment, the institute implemented in providing Academic service, Training, data gathering information and research studies useful for developing national Economic and society with implementation as self reliance with service independent from bureaucratic system by organization status control of Khon Kaen University. 
             The beginning implementation was Supported from Canadian International Development Agency or CIDA) by providing the training for 5 staffs of conflict management, and reconciliation. Moreover, it was the starting point of joining in seminar training for Thai government officers different ministries and organizations until now.
